Afterimages
Cherry Blossom Festival
Archival inkjet print, 50” x 18”
Afterimages is a series taken on 120 film with a Holga that explores the light during the various seasons in Salem. Oregon. It is a purely self-indulgent series, inspired by the most cherished part of my morning routine: taking my dog to the park. I recently moved from a land of sun and warmth to a climate characterized by flat grey days. My favorite time to walk my dog is on the relatively few mornings a year when the sun is bright. I feel energized with the light glinting through the trees and hitting my face, creating dancing shapes in front of my eyes. These afterimages can be as disorienting as they are fleeting, but I find them comforting and reminiscent of a childhood spent in the sun.
